I’ve been reading about proxies and VPN’s lately. I moved to China a while ago, but I don’t have a Facebook account, so never really need to get on Facebook in China. However, recently I’ve been starting to do some blogging and realized that a lot of blogging platforms are blocked in China. I tried to get some Chinese blogs up, but there were two problems. One is that the Chinese is complicated and I don’t really understand how to make my way around the blog. The other is that it’s like blogging in the 90′s – the blog platforms just suck. So I finally figured out that you can use proxies and VPNs to unblock Internet censorship here. I’m using the SSL/OpenVPN in China and it’s working great. Sometimes when I check up on stuff using my phone I need to use my proxy though, because PPTP and L2TP VPN is blocked in China.
